The IOTA DLS5512 Battery Charger is a 12V, 55A power supply with a maximum continuous output of 750 watts.
The DLS Series is designed to efficiently charge battery banks using its full rated output, then maintain the selected voltage set point by supplying only the power required by the batteries.
IOTA Engineering uses advanced switch-mode technology to reduce wasted power and minimize high-dissipation operating states. This design provides reliable, efficient performance in a compact chassis while helping maintain lower operating temperatures.
IOTA IQ Smart Controllers are available for flooded lead-acid, sealed lead-acid, and lithium battery banks. These controllers provide the appropriate charging stages for the selected battery chemistry.

When an IQ Smart Controller is not connected, the charger does not provide a dedicated float-charging function. This makes it well suited for generator-based charging, but the charging process should be monitored to prevent overcharging.
The charger can also be used with grid power, but it should be disconnected once the battery bank is fully charged if an IQ Smart Controller is not installed.
The DLS Series includes basic protection against low and transient AC line voltage, voltage spikes up to 132 VAC, and excessive operating temperature.
Additional protection includes fused short-circuit and current-overload protection.
The charger is also designed to meet FCC criteria for minimizing interference with radio and television equipment.
The DLS5512 can tolerate input voltages up to 132 VAC. Damage may occur if the input voltage exceeds this level.
To help protect the charger from generator voltage surges:
Start the generator and allow it to warm up before connecting power to the charger.
Disconnect power to the charger before shutting down the generator.
Do not allow the generator to run out of fuel while the charger is connected, as fuel starvation may cause a temporary high-voltage condition.
